A ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is a breathtaking journey through the mountain West, complete with a memorable lunch stop at historic Osier Station.
Located at 9,637 feet, Osier is one of the most anticipated moments of the Cumbres & Toltec experience. Here, passengers step off the train, stretch their legs, take in the surrounding mountain meadow, and gather for a hearty meal before continuing their journey by steam.
Beginning with the 2026 operating season, lunch at Osier Station is served by From the Wagon, the railroad’s official culinary partner. Led by John “Bit” Pruitt and Donna Pruitt, From the Wagon brings the spirit of authentic chuckwagon cooking, ranch-style hospitality, and time-honored Western food traditions to one of the most iconic stops on the line.

Led by John “Bit” Pruitt and Donna Pruitt, From the Wagon brings decades of cooking experience to the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Their approach is grounded in the traditions of the chuckwagon: practical, hearty meals prepared with care, served in a way that honors the people, landscapes, and stories of the American West.
Bit Pruitt has more than 30 years of experience as a chuckwagon cook. From the Wagon has been featured by Western Horseman, named a Top Three Finalist for Chuckwagon of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists, and served as the official food provider for major Western and ranching events.
From the Wagon is creating — and elevating — one of the most memorable parts of the journey: a shared meal in a remote mountain setting, surrounded by history, scenery, and the sound of steam.
Where Steam Meets Smoke
The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and From the Wagon are a natural fit.
The narrow-gauge railroad helped open the mountain West. The chuckwagon helped feed the cowboys, ranch hands, and crews who worked across the frontier. At Osier Station, those two traditions come together in a way you can see, taste, and remember.
After experiencing the high mountain passes, sweeping valleys, tunnels, trestles, and historic railroad landscapes, we know you’re ready for a delicious meal when you arrive at Osier. From the Wagon brings a true taste of Western hospitality to the table, making lunch part of the Cumbres & Toltec experience.
