The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad operates seven days a week, starting Saturday, May 24, and continuing through Sunday, October 19. There are eight itineraries, as summarized at right. You can also view the available trips originating from Antonito or Chama by using the menu above. Child rates pertain to those children between the ages of 2 and 11. Kids under 2 ride for free.
From July 6 to August 24, we also offer the “Sunday Express,” from Chama to Cumbres and return. These trains will run on Sundays departing from Chama 11AM to return to Chama at 3PM and will be themed for a unique family adventure. The line up includes:

August 24--Cumbres – Toltec Bike Challenge
On Sunday, August 24, the Sunday Express train will provide bicyclists a unique opportunity to race the train uphill from Chama depot to the historic town of Cumbres or downhill it from Cumbres back to Chama.
The Challenge will take uphill riders along New Mexico Highway 17 approximately 15 miles climbing over 2,100’ of vertical to the top of Cumbres Pass where a picnic lunch will be served. Riders can then return to Chama depot via the train. Riders choosing to downhill can take the train to Cumbres, enjoy a picnic lunch and then race the train back to Chama depot.Pick your ride OR take the double challenge and race the train both ways!
From June 12 to August 14, we offer the “Cinder Bear Express,” a shorter trip designed especially for children. This trip operates on Thursdays only.
All trains except the “Sunday Express” and the “Cinder Bear Express” stop for lunch at Osier, Colorado, roughly the mid-point of the railroad. A hot meal with salad bar and homemade desserts is included in the fare prices. The “Cinder Bear Express” includes a picnic lunch at Cumbres.

Everybody loves Cinder Bear, the train's official mascot. Kids and parents join him for the four hour round trip from Chama, New Mexico to Cumbres Pass, filled with songs, games, and storytelling. A picnic lunch is included.
Return to Chama by train at approximately 3:00 pm.Ride Aboard the Historic Narrow Gauge of the C&TSRR and standard Gauge of the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. You can now ride from Alamosa to Antonito then Osier (lunch stop) and back to Alamosa or go all the way to Chama, and overnight in New Mexico. You choose your train adventure along these two scenic rails.
