CUMBRES & TOLTEC SCENIC RAILROAD
2008 SEASON
“CELEBRATING 127 YEARS OF ROLLING HISTORY”

May 7, 2008, Chama, New Mexico. The antique steam engines of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad are stoked up and ready to roll complete with passengers and a season-long celebration of train rides and activities starting May 24, 2008! The First Whistle Blow of the Season will be heard on Opening Day in Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado as trains prepare to pull out of both depots.

Opening day ceremonies for America's Highest and Longest Narrow Gauge Railroad begin at 9AM and will include a red-ribbon cutting ceremony, patriotic entertainment, and a ‘Blessing of the Train’. Welcoming remarks by Political Dignitaries, Train Commissioners and Officials will mark the start of the railroad’s 127th season followed by the official “first whistle blow of the Season”. The first trains of the season will roll out at 10AM sharp on May 24th.

The C&TS RR, co-owned by the states of Colorado and New Mexico, will operate daily from May 24th till October 19, 2008 from both station locations. This popular historic narrow-gauge train engages passengers, photographers, historians, and train aficionados on one of the most scenic and historic rail experiences anywhere.

Highlighting the railroad’s 127th year are also a number of planned special trains in addition to the traditional daily train rides! These include:
· Sunday themed trains (new this year)
· Special themed trains: Galloping Goose & Locomotive #315, Plein Air-Artist Train, Cinder Bear Express, the Moonlight Train, and the restored OB Pile Driver special (new and returning)

Details and dates for these themed train rides can be obtained on the railroad’s newly designed website www.cumbrestoltec.com. Or by phone at 888-CUMBRES (286-2737). Schedules, pricing and information, along with sights and sounds of the railroad, are highlighted on the redesigned, interactive website.
